The OGC Business Value Committee (BVC) will directly engage senior managers, commercial, sales and marketing professionals from the OGC membership in activities to identify, organize and promote the business value of OGC standards.
OGC has identified the need for standardized interfaces for sensors in the Web of Things (WoT). The Sensor Web interface for IoT SWG aims to develop such a standard based on existing WoT portals with consideration of the existing OGC Sensor Web Enablement (SWE) standards.
The rigorous testing of USGS web services performed in the Interoperability Assessment Project helped us identify and correct shortcomings of our implementation of OGC standards, and highlighted areas in which to improve the user experience with our web services. As a result of the project, our users can include the improved USGS services more easily in their decisions making and operational activities.
A Subcommittee is a standing group (organizationally, a subgroup of the Technical Committee or the Planning Committee) of individuals composed of members of the TC or PC and Invited Guests, with a mission to provide recommendations to the TC or PC in some general area. A Subcommittee does not generate a Standard nor do they work on a Standard.
The OGC "Geo-interface for Atmosphere, Land, Earth, and Ocean netCDF" (GALEON) Interoperability Experiment supports open access to atmospheric and oceanographic modeling and simulation outputs.
GALEON Phase I completed in 2007. GALEON Phase II started shortly after. However, Phase II is currently dormant awaiting the completion of the revision to OGC Web Coverage Service (version 2). Once WCS 2.0 work is completed, GALEON Phase II will restart.
Following is a summary of the Phase 1 activity.
