Simple Features SWG

Chair(s):

Herring, John (Oracle USA)

Group Description:

1.    ISO Simple Features

A Standard working group is being formed to work on the ISO version of the Simple Features specification. The intent is to create a fully harmonized standard so that the OGC and ISO standards and the SQL/MM Part 3 spatial versions are harmonized at the end of the work of the  SWG. A summary SWG description is given here and expanded below:

HDWG Surface Water IE

SUMMARY

This interoperability experiment will advance the development of WaterML 2.0, test its use with various OGC service standards (SOS, WFS, WMS and CSW). It will also contribute to the development of a hydrology domain feature model and vocabularies, which are essential for interoperability in the hydrology domain.

CF-NetCDF 1.0 SWG

1.    CF-NetCDF 1.0 Standards Working Group
NetCDF (network Common Data Form) is a data model for array-oriented scientific data, a freely distributed collection of access libraries implementing support for that data model, and a machine-independent format. Together, the interfaces, libraries, and format support the creation, access, and sharing of scientific data.

Web Processing Service (WPS) IE

This Interoperability Experiment (IE) will implement a number of prototype Web Processing services based on the interface described in the OGC Web Processing Service (WPS) Specification. The purpose of the IE will be to confirm that the specification will support the requirements of geospatially related calculations and modeling over the Internet, and to improve the specification if it does not support these requirements.

Spatial Data Quality Certification Concept Development

This project is for the Concept Definition (CD) phase of a Spatial Data Quality Certification Initiative in OGC’s Interoperability Program. The main outcome of the CD Phase will be a Feasibility Report defining the Initiative. The Feasibility Report will be used to recruit additional sponsors for the execution phase of the Initiative. In particular the Feasibility Report will be ready for discussion at the INTERGEO conference in Munich, 9-13 October 2006.

NSDI Enterprise Architecture Support

The work to be performed by the OGC is in support of the Federal Geographic Data Committee Secretariat, Geographic Information Office, USGS. OGC will provide the following services designed to define and validate an inter-agency enterprise architecture applicable to a subset of US federal and non-federal organizations (and extensible to other organizations).
