  • Car - From Milano: Take the "A8" highway, "Laghi-Sesto Calende-Varese" direction; then take the "A26" highway, "Gravellona Toce" diretion; Nearest way out to Stresa; "Carpugnino"
  • Train - Stresa is on the main railway Milano - Simplon - Geneva - Paris. The train station is within walking distance from the Hotel. Taxi are usually available outside the train station.
  • Plane - The Hotel is 45Km Northeast of Milano Malpensa Airport (MXP) and 110Km northeast of Milano Linate Airport (LIN).

  • Take a taxi from Malpensa airport to Stresa. It costs between 100-150 €, (depending day/evening etc.), or

Valencia airport has connections from many European capitals, and if people choose to fly (using a travel agent) to Madrid or Barcelona then the extra Valencia flight is normally not much (or any) extra cost. So there's no need
to take trains unless people really wan to see the countryside.

As part of the OGC TC meeting, a special 2013 OGC Asia Forum Summit will be held at IIT Bombay, India on December 3rd, 2013. Two major focuses of the OGC Asia Forum this year will be “Values of standards for research, education, and implementation” and “Uses of OGC standards in practical community settings”. Many distinguished speakers from the Asia region will share their experiences and practices in geoinformatics interoperability. The OGC 20th Anniversary Gala Dinner will be held on 3 December at the HAPPO-EN. There will be charter bus service between the meeting facilities and the Dinner.

During the term of Tokyo TC on December 2014, the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC(R)) will conduct an experimental demonstration for OGC(R) Moving Features Candidate Standard.

The demonstration consists of two experiments. One experiment is an indoor-location experiment, and the other is an outdoor-location experiment.

For the indoor-location experiment, Business Microscope(R)* system is used to measure people's activities.
 
Tokyo TC attendees who have agreed their participation to the experiment will wear a tag with infrared transceivers and accelerometers.  Beacons are set up in meeting rooms in order to record attendees' indoor locations by communicating with tags.
The histories of locations will be converted to OGC(R) Moving Features encoding.

For the outdoor-location experiment, a smart card which is available for purchase public-transportation (trains, subways and buses) fare will be distributed to attendees of Tokyo TC.  The fare payment is immediately finished by touching the card to a card reader.  The history of the fare payments at stations are recorded in the card.

If attendees agree upon their experiment participation, station names that they got on and off will be converted to coordinate data and the movement trajectory is visualized as a real-time movie after spatial interpolation along with a railway network.
Participants will have their communication network displayed on a large monitor set at the meeting place.

Local Information and Travel: 

The workshop is to be held at the UN Campus – Langer Eugen. It offers excellent conferencing facilities, as well as a canteen with international cuisine and a cafeteria. Additional rooms will be accessible for parallel sessions and discussion groups.

The airport is well connected to the city centre by Airport-shuttle-bus No SB60 leaving from Terminal 2 every twenty minutes (a single ticket is 6.70 €). It is also possible to rent a car or take a taxi, of course. The distance between airport and main train station is around 30 km.

Arriving at the Airport Frankfurt (Rhein-Main):
Distance to the center of Bonn: about 170 km
For those arriving in Frankfurt airport, we recommend to go to the "long distance train station (Fernbahnhof)" of the airport:
Either you take
- any of the IC trains going to Mainz, Koblenz and Bonn (central station)
and continuing to Cologne etc. or you take
- the fast "ICE" train to "Siegburg/Bonn", and take the tram to Bonn from there. There is only one tram line (No. 66) departing in Siegburg/Bonn station; get off at "Universität/Markt".

The IC train will take you in 1 hour and 45 minutes to Bonn. The ICE train will need on a maximum speed of 250 km/h about 39 minutes to reach Siegburg. The remaining 15 km will take you at least as much (including waiting and change over time).

 

By railway/underground:

from Bonn Hauptbahnhof main station:

  • Underground (U-Bahn) line 16, 63 or 66 towards Bad Godesberg /Koenigswinter

By train:

However, they normally won’t state prices if you arrive from a foreign country. Ask your travel agent for the best deals. Booking more than 7 days before the departure date can give considerable discounts depending on the train and availability.

By car:

If you come by car, use a route planner to find your way to the UN premises and to your hotel, for example Google maps.
Frankfurt/Hannover/Ruhrgebiet:

  • A3 motorway to Bonn/Siegburg intersection
  • A560 motorway towards Bonn until St. Augustin junction
  • A59 motorway towards Bonn-Bad Godesberg until Bonn-Ost (42) intersection
  • A562 motorway, keep right until exit (Anschlussstelle) Bonn-Rheinaue
  • Turn right onto Franz-Josef-Strauss-Allee towards Bonn-Rheinaue
  • First exit on the right into Charles-de-Gaulle-Str
  • Follow the road and pass the Post Office area
  • When you reach the Rhine, the first exit on the left is the Hermann-Ehlers-Str
  • Follow Hermann-Ehlers-Str until you reach the UN Campus

coming from the South-West of the Rhine:

  • A61 motorway until Meckenheim intersection
  • A565 motorway towards Bonn
  • Poppelsdorf exit, towards Bad Godesberg (B9)
  • After “Reuterbruecke”-Bridge keep right and follow the road to the right into Adenauerallee
  • Second exit on the left towards the Heussallee
  • At the second traffic lights turn right into Kurt-Schumacher-Str.
  • First exit on the left into Franz-Josef-Strauss-Str.
  • Then use the next possibility to exit on the left and turn into Charles-de-Gaulle Str
  • Follow the road and pass the Post Office area
  • When you reach the Rhine, the first exit on the left is the Hermann-Ehlers-Str.
  • Follow Hermann-Ehlers-Str until you reach the UN Campus

Note for Visitors:

There is hardly any possibility to park your car directly at the UN Campus. However, if required, you can leave your car on one of the parking areas you pass along the Charles-de-Gaulle-Straße. Parking is not permitted opposite the UN entrance in Hermann-Ehlers-Straße.

This rate is per night and per room booked, service charge and VAT included (excepting local tax at 0.92 Euro per person per day). Double rooms are available at an additional charge (for a second OGC attendee room and board is 80 €, for a guest or significant other, the price would be 25 € for room and Breakfast is availble for 14 €).

Reservation guaranteed by credit card, payment due upon departure from hotel. Cancellation and modification possible until 4pm (local time), 3 days prior to arrival date, after this time, the first night­s stay per room reserved will be charged. Exchange rates are for information only. Check-in time is at 3 p.m. & check-out at 12 p.m. Underground car park: 8 Euros per day per vehicle. OGC reserves the right to charge your credit card or invoice your organization for any charges that you incur that are not settled directly with the hotel.
