Wayland, Mass., July 17, 2008 - The Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC®) announced today that PCI Geomatics has upgraded its membership level from Principal to Principal Plus. PCI Geomatics' decision to participate at this new level underscores its commitment to geospatial interoperability, the geospatial industry, and the OGC. PCI Geomatics (as PCI Remote Sensing) was one of the eight charter members of OGC at its founding in 1994.
March 25, 2009, Wayland, Massachusetts. The Open Geospatial Consortium OGC® announced that Athina Trakas has been appointed as Director European Services for the OGC. In her new position, Ms. Trakas will plan and manage OGC outreach and recruitment in Europe, working out of the OGC's Bonn office.
September 16, 2009. The Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC®) has a limited number of registrations available for the Spatial Law and Policy Summit that will be held at The Westin Washington, D.C. City Center on October 7, 2009. Professionals from government and the private sector whose work involves laws and policies related to geospatial technology are invited to register and attend.
Wayland, MA, USA, 6 May 2010. The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) announced that Dr. Nadine Alameh has been appointed as a Director, Interoperability Programs for the Consortium. In her new position, Nadine plans and manages OGC Interoperability Initiatives, which include testbeds, pilots and interoperability experiments designed to develop, test and validate specifications in support of developing standards for geospatial information.
25 March 2011 - The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) seeks public comment on the candidate OGC Open GeoSMS Standard - Core.
The candidate OGC Open GeoSMS Standard allows applications to location enable Short Message Service (SMS). SMS is the text communication service component of phone, web and mobile communication systems. SMS uses standardized communications protocols that allow the exchange of short text messages between fixed line or mobile phone devices.
