OGC Calls for Participation in Geo4NIEM Initiative to enhance geospatial capabilities for the the US National Information Exchange Model (NIEM)

14 February 2013. The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) has issued a Request for Quotations/Call for Participation (RFQ/CFP) to solicit proposals in response to requirements for the OGC Geo4NIEM Project. The Geo4NIEM Initiative will result in recommendations to enhance the geospatial capabilities within the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM). Sponsors have identified specific Information Exchange Packages (IEPs) from Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Justice/Law Enforcement domain, and the Maritime domain as representative examples for investigation in this initiative.

1 April 2016.  ASTM International and the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) will collaborate on developing and disseminating standards, best practices, and other tools that support the growing geospatial industry.

The organizations plan to work together in areas such as data acquisition and dissemination, location-based services, and unmanned (autonomous) navigation.  

Australian Spatial Interoperability Project Wins Award

(OGC®) announced that OGC Australasia (OGC-A), an OGC subsidiary, sponsored the award winning Spatial Interoperability Demonstration Project (SIDP), a collaborative initiative between the public and private sectors of the Australian Spatial Information Industry. The effort received the Asia Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards (APSEA) Research and Innovation Award at the APSEA dinner on 24 September 2005.

Autodesk Becomes OGC Principal Plus Member

Autodesk's decision to participate at this new level underscores its commitment to geospatial interoperability, the GIS (Geographic Information Systems) industry, and the OGC. Autodesk has been an OGC member since 1994 and has been involved in several of its programs, including the recent OGC Web Services Initiative.
