7 November 2011. During the well-attended OGC 3D Summit in Boulder, Colorado the first ever OGC 3DIM Award was given to the 3D Pilot NL, a unique network of over 65 private, public and scientific organizations who collaborated to push 3D developments in the Netherlands.
21 August 2012 - The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) has appointed both Lew Leinenweber and Bart de Lathouwer to the position of Director, Interoperability Programs. These are key technical positions in the OGC Interoperability Program.
20 February 2013 - The Group on Earth Observations (GEO) has announced a Call for Participation (CFP) in the 6th phase of the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS) Architecture Implementation Pilot (AIP-6). AIP-6 aims to increase the use of GEOSS resources by end-users. An end-user might be, for example, a farmer in a developing nation whose cell phone app accesses an online service
30 September 2013. At the September meeting of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC(R)) in Frascati, Italy, Jeff de La Beaujardière, PhD, received the OGC's prestigious Kenneth D. Gardels Award (http://www.opengeospatial.org/ogc/awards). The Gardels Award is awarded each year to individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to advance OGC's vision of geospatial information fully integrated into the world's information systems.
9 February 2015. The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) announces that on January 31 Carl Reed retired from his position as CTO and Executive Director Standards Program at the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC). Scott Simmons will assume the role of Executive Director, Standards Program and George Percivall, OGC Chief Engineer, will assume the role of CTO.
23 July 2015 - The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) GeoPackage Standards Working Group (SWG) seeks public input to guide their development and prioritization of new extensions to the OGC GeoPackage (GPKG) Encoding Standard. GeoPackage is an open, standards-based, platform-independent, portable, self-describing, compact format for transferring geospatial information. Adopted by the OGC membership last year, GeoPackage has rapidly become implemented in a broad range of products and applications.
