December 07, 2007 -- Washington, DC - COMCARE Emergency Response Alliance, the Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC), the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) and the National Association of State Fire Marshals (NASFM) jointly announced they will conduct a Core Services Initiative to significantly improve interoperable, inter-organizational communications and information sharing for emergency preparedness, response and recovery.

The Open Geospatial Consortium announces that the Fund for the City of New York (FCNY) has funded OGC to develop prototype data models for underground utility networks and for the soils that surround them. The goal is to ensure that underground utility data are collected in a manner that allows information about different utilities to be integrated and used interoperably.

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) announces that it has appointed Denise McKenzie as Executive Director, Marketing and Communications. Working with OGC staff, board, membership and partner organizations, Denise will be responsible for the planning and execution of marketing, communications and education programs to raise awareness and increase application of OGC standards by technology providers and users worldwide.
The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) is pleased to announce that DigitalGlobe has raised its membership level from Technical Committee level to Principal level. As a Principal member, DigitalGlobe will participate in OGC's Planning Committee to explore market and technology trends relevant to OGC's mission, to assure that OGC's policies and procedures remain effective and agile in a changing technology environment, and to act as final approval authority for all OGC standards.
