Military Pilot Project Testbed, Phase 1

OGC’s Military Pilot Project, Phase 1, sponsored by the US Army Engineering and Development Center (ERDC), was a collaborative effort that contributed to the operational validation of interoperable commercial geoprocessing products for the defense and intelligence domain. MPP-1 addressed the problem that no single vendor’s commercial products meet all the diverse requirements of defense geoprocessing, and the diverse products from different vendors that might meet these requirements don’t, without OGC's standards, interoperate.

Web Mapping Testbed, Phase 2

The Web Mapping Testbed Phase 2 (WMT-2) expanded on work done in WMT-1. It resulted in more federal data coming on-line using WMT protocols and laid a foundation for OGC Pilot Projects that tested and demonstrated the new capabilities. WMT-2 resulted in improvements to GetFeatureInfo, GetMap, and GetCapabilities, the basic elements of the Web Map Server Interface Specification. It also resulted in a proposed service interface specification for accepting multi-dimensional query requests and responding with portrayals (symbolized graphics) of the results (with associated legends).

SAA Pilot

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) SAA Dissemination OGC Pilot demonstrated the feasibility of automating the dissemination and portrayal of Special Activity Airspace (SAA) information (including updates) to National Airspace System (NAS) stakeholders and other external users via OGC Web Services.

OGC Web Services Initiative, Phase 1.1

Testbed. After the events of September 11, the OWS 1.1 sponsors agreed to align OWS 1.1 to address interoperability challenges defined by officials in New York City. The OWS 1.1 demonstration scenario developed by the sponsors challenged participating technology developers and integrators to implement interoperability capabilities that address specific critical disaster management needs involving New York City data. Specification development focused on: OGC Common Architecture, Web Mapping, Imagery Exploitation and Sensor Web.
