On 2 February 2012, the OGC began the OGC Web Services, Phase 9 (OWS-9) Testbed process with a Request for Quotations/Call for Participation (RFQ/CFP) to solicit proposals in response to requirements. 10 sponsors provided requirements, a testbed plan was developed, and 45 technology provider participants worked together for 8 months developing and testing interoperability solutions to meet those requirements.
This project is completed and the final report has been published by IPIECA. The resport has also been approved as an OGC Best Practice.
This report provides recommended practice for GIS/mapping in support of oil spill response and for the use of GIS technology and geospatial information in forming a “Common Operating Picture” to support management of the response.
The OGC Web Services Shibboleth Interoperability Experiment advanced best practices for implementing standards on federated security in transactions involving geospatial data and services.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) SAA Dissemination OGC Pilot demonstrated the feasibility of automating the dissemination and portrayal of Special Activity Airspace (SAA) information (including updates) to National Airspace System (NAS) stakeholders and other external users via OGC Web Services.
Over the next decade, the way we live, work and use energy, transportation and other city resources and services will change significantly thanks to a range of innovative ‘Smart City’ solutions. A Smart City integrates physical, digital and human systems to deliver a sustainable, prosperous and inclusive future for its citizens. Many of these innovative solutions will be based on sophisticated information and communication technologies.
The OGC Underground Infrastructure Mapping and Modeling project will lead to improved public safety, project delivery and urban resilience from a secure 3D repository of urban underground infrastructure.
