This project is now dormant.

The Feature WG develops consensus on geospatial feature geometry, identity, and relationships.

The Coordinate Reference System Working Group develops strategies for encoding of earth coordinate reference systems and transformations between coordinate reference systems. Also addresses units of measure.

The Coordinate Reference System (CRS) Domain Working Group develops strategies for encoding of earth coordinate reference systems and transformations between coordinate reference systems. Also addresses units of measure. The group has worked consistenty on the joint OGC-ISO Document 19111 - Spatial Referencing by Coordinates

 

NOTE:  This group is Dormant.  The current work is being conducted in the GeoAPI 3.0 SWG .

 

GeoAPI aims to provide neutral, interface-only API's based upon existing and proposed OGC Standards. In short, the goal of this working group is to accomplish for GIS what JDBC achieved for databases.

The community may also interact with the GeoAPI at the GeoAPI's JIRA project page provided by JIRA Project Management.

The Decision Support DWG discusses requirements for interfaces necessary for interoperable service chaining (common expression and execution) in the areas of data mining, Integrated Client to access all OWS services and simulation. The Decision Support WG discusses requirements for interfaces necessary for interoperable service chaining (common expression and execution) in the areas of data mining, Integrated Client to access all OWS services and simulation. The DSS WG is currently reworking its mission to better reflect current OGC and IT best practices with regard to decision support.

The Information Communities and Semantics WG addresses issues related to services that might be developed to help users manage semantic differences in spatial data content and metadata.

The Natural Resources and Environment WG engages in outreach and dialog with the Natural Resources and Environment information community to demonstrate the value of OGC processes and standards, and to provide a point of input for new requirements. The NRE WWG is in the process of being merged with the Earth Observation (EO) WG.
