Boston and Wayland, MA, USA; March 12, 2008 - Progress on ongoing collaborative efforts was announced today by two international standards consortia, the Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC) and OASIS (the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards). The groups have fostered an active commitment to cooperation since signing a Memorandum of Agreement in 2006.

OGC Interoperability Day is sponsored by the OGC, Northrop Grumman and the US National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA).

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) (http://www.opengeospatial.org) announced that Leica Geosystems Geospatial Imaging has increased its level of membership in the OGC to become a Strategic Member. Strategic Membership is the highest level of membership in the OGC. Strategic Members provide significant resources to support OGC objectives in the form of funding for program initiatives and staff resources inserted into the OGC process.

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Spatial Data Quality Working Group is pleased to announce that there has been a great response to the survey on spatial data quality measures. The survey will close by the 25th of January. This working group, under the leadership of Seb Lessware (Chair) from 1Spatial and Patrick Cunningham (Vice-Chair) of Blue Marble Geographics has been gathering secondary research information and requirements from OGC members for the past year and is now conducting a primary research phase.
