Special Interest Groups (SIG) provide a forum for the discussion of business and technology interoperability requirements for given geographic region or information community.

Domain Working Groups

Domain Working Groups (DWG or WG) provide a forum for discussion of key interoperability requirements and issues, discussion and review of implementation specifications, and presentations on key technology areas relevant to solving geospatial interoperability issues.

Subcommittees

A Subcommittee is a standing group (organizationally, a subgroup of the Technical Committee or the Planning Committee) of individuals composed of members of the TC or PC and Invited Guests, with a mission to provide recommendations to the TC or PC in some general area. A Subcommittee does not generate a Standard nor do they work on a Standard.

Committees

The OGC Planning Committee is granted authority to operate by the OGC Bylaws. Principal Membership is provided for organizations that wish to participate in the planning and management of the Consortium's technology development process.

Europe SIG

Purpose:

To organize a SIG to define organizational and business approaches relating to European members' issues that have significance for the development and implementation of a community-wide OpenGIS architecture, and to stimulate the further growth of the European GI market.

Charter:
