The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) and The buildingSMART allianceTM (bSa) announce that a streaming webcast of the May 28 AECOO-1 webinar is available for review: http://www.opengeospatial.org/pub/www/aecoo-1/index.html. The webcast demonstrates results from the AECOO (Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Owner and Operator industry) Phase 1 Testbed. The AECOO-1 Testbed was a nine-month effort focused on increasing interoperability among software used by architects, engineers, construction companies, cost estimators and building energy performance analysts.

(OGC®) announces the release of on-line videos (http://www.opengeospatial.org/pub/www/ows6/index.html) that document the recent final interoperability demonstration of the OGC Web Services Initiative, Phase 6 (OWS-6) Testbed. OWS-6 addressed activities organized around geospatial interoperability requirements in the following areas:
1) Sensor Web Enablement (SWE)
2) Geo Processing Workflow (GPW)
3) Decision Support Services (DSS)
4) Aeronautical Information Management (AIM)
5) Compliance and Interoperability Test and Evaluation (CITE).

Wayland, MA, July 16, 2009.The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) ( http://www.opengeospatial.org/standards/requests/59 ) to solicit industry input into a Fusion Standards Study to be conducted in preparation for the planned OGC Web Services, Phase 7 (OWS-7) Testbed. OGC also seeks to establish alliances with other Standards Development Organizations (SDOs) having technology relevant to fusion.

Wayland, MA, USA, July 13, 2009.The Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. has issued a Request For Quotation and Call for Participation (RFQ/CFP) to solicit proposals for the NSG Profiles Plugweek Pilot, which will begin in August and end in October. (NSG is the National System for Geospatial Intelligence.) The sponsor, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), will provide profiles of the OGC Web Map Service, Web Feature Service and Web Coverage Service Interface Standards. Wayland, MA, USA, July 10, 2009. At the June meeting of the Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC®) in Cambridge, Massachusetts, David Danko received the OGC's 11th annual Kenneth D. Gardels Award (http://www.opengeospatial.org/ogc/awards). The Gardels Award is awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions in advancing the OGC vision of complete integration of geospatial information and services into the world's information systems.
Danko helped draft the OGC abstract specification for metadata and has long chaired the Metadata Working Group. He has played a key role in developing and maintaining a working relationship between the OGC and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) TC 211. Since 1996 he has made important contributions in numerous other key Technical Committee activities, including the Documentation Subcommittee, the OGC Review Board, and the Mass Market, Defense and Intelligence, and Catalog working groups. He also represents ESRI in the Planning Committee. In all committees and working groups, Danko has consistently set a high standard for serious, mature and professional input.

Wayland, MA, July 1, 2009. The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) has posted videos of demonstrations of Phase 2 of the GEOSS Architecture Implementation Pilot (AIP-2) on the OGC website at http://www.ogcnetwork.net/pub/ogcnetwork/GEOSS/AIP2/index.html.
The AIP-2 pilot activity, which began in September 2008, is a project of the GEO (Group on Earth Observations) AR-09-01b Task Team. AIP-1 demonstrated GEO Portal and Clearinghouse solutions. AIP-2 established "operational, research and technical exemplars", services that support several of the GEOSS Societal Benefit Areas (SBAs): Disaster Management, Biodiversity and Climate Change, Air Quality and Health, and Renewable Energy. AIP-2 Engineering Reports will be made available to the GEOSS Best Practice Registry ( http://www.ogcnetwork.net/AIP2ERs ) for use by organizations in and outside of GEOSS .

Wayland, MA, June 11, 2009. The Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC®), the Australian Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) and the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) are conducting a Climate Challenge Integration Plugfest (CCIP) to be launched at the FOSS4G (Free, Open Source Software for Geomatics) Conference in Sydney, Australia, 20-23 October, 2009 (http://2009.foss4g.org).
The OGC is seeking CCIP sponsors. Prospective sponsors are invited to contact the OGC to discuss providing requirements and resources. Sponsors will be involved in developing the CCIP test plan and the plugfest event. Participation is open to all software vendors, programmers and system integrators regardless of whether their software is open source or proprietary. Wayland, MA, June 1, 2009.The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) has issued a call for sponsors of the OGC Web Services, Phase 7 (OWS-7) Testbed. OGC also seeks to establish alliances with standards bodies having technology relevant to this initiative.
OWS-7 will develop interoperability specifications in the areas of Sensor Web Enablement, geoprocessing workflows, 3-dimensional information management, events and security architecture, aeronautical information systems, enterprise web services, mass-market geoservices and compliance testing of OGC standards. These "threads" address interoperability issues affecting emergency management and homeland security, defense, Earth observation, transport and logistics, e-commerce and other domains. Interested organizations are invited to a planning meeting on 11 June 2009 in Herndon, Virginia. At this meeting potential sponsors will review the OGC standards baseline, discuss OWS-6 results, and document OWS-7 requirements and plans. Attendance does not constitute a commitment to help sponsor OWS-7. Sponsor and participant commitment will be part of a subsequent Request for Quotation / Call for Participation (RFQ/CFP) process.
