OGC Press Releases
1 May 2014. USGS data services get over 1 million hits per day. These data are used by a range of communities including governments at state, county, and city levels for a variety of purposes (science, decision-support, etc). As such, there is an increasing desire to determine whether the USGS data services are fully compliant with relevant OGC standards, and if there are opportunities to improve how the data is being served to the different communities.
24 April 2014 - The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) Members approved "OGC OpenSearch Geo and Time Extensions" as an OGC standard. This document defines an extension to the popular OpenSearch specification so that users can easily take advantage of rich geospatial and temporal search capabilities enabled by OGC standards. OGC OpenSearch Geo and Time Extensions can be downloaded from http://www.opengeospatial.org/standards/opensearchgeo.
24 March 2014 - The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) is pleased to announce that Ordnance Survey has raised its membership level from Technical Committee level to Principal level.
As a Principal Member, Ordnance Survey will participate in OGC's Planning Committee to explore market and technology trends relevant to OGC's mission to assure that OGC's policies and procedures remain effective and agile in a changing technology environment, and to participate in final approval decisions for all OGC standards.
12 March 2014. The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) announces the formation of a new OGC Technical Committee Standards Working Group (SWG). The purpose of this SWG will be to explore and propose terms for a standard to enable interoperability through the use of Discrete Global Grid Systems (DGGS). The OGC members convening this group invite the public to comment on the DGGS SWG charter ( https://portal.opengeospatial.org/files/57326 ) and will consider comments received via email to: charter-requests AT

4 March 2014 - The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) Academic Summit 2014 will be held 15-16 September 2014 at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada as part of the September OGC Technical Committee Meeting.
25 February 2014 – The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and Directions Media invite government information system managers to attend a free webinar on the new OGC GeoPackage Encoding Standard, an open standard for accessing spatial data on mobile devices. The webinar, fifth in a series of OGC GovFuture Webinars, will be held on 5 March
24 February 2014 - The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) has approved the OGC Sensor Model Language (SensorML) 2.0 Encoding Standard. SensorML 2.0 provides a standard encoding for describing sensors ("things that measure"), actuators ("things that act"), and processors ("things that calculate"). SensorML is part of the award-winning OGC Sensor Web Enablement (SWE) suite of standards that have been implemented in satellite
