The FIG Working Week 2005 and the 8th Conference of GSDI will be held in Cairo, Egypt April 16-21, 2005. The theme of the first FIG/GSDI Conference is "From Pharaohs to Geoinformatics". Early bird registration closes January 31, 2005. The conference program includes opening ceremony, three plenary sessions with high-profile keynote speakers, 51 technical sessions - 5 in parallel - with more than 330 papers, pre-conference tutorials and workshops on Saturday and Sunday prior the conference and several round table discussions. The technical and social tours include both the historical sites of Egypt and Cairo and professionally interesting visit to Egyptian agencies.
