To aid in advancing the Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. mission, OGC has and will continue to establish agreements and partnerships with other organizations. These partnerships are often established through "Memorandum of Understanding", which establishes the purpose, benefits, and areas of mutual collaboration between OGC and the partner organization. These partnerships help to advance the OGC and partner missions one or more of the following focus areas 1) combining resources when appropriate to advance specification development, and 2) conducting outreach with developer and user communities to raise awareness and accelerate take up of Open GIS® specifications.
