WhereCon 2012 to be renamed and rescheduled

23 January 2012

Thank you for your interest in WhereCon 2012.  USGIF and OGC are committed to organizing a conference focused on place-based policy. However, after discussions with several of our respective members and sponsors, we have decided that the community would be better served if this event were rescheduled.

We have had good support from exhibitors and sponsors to date, but the current economic environment compounded with the announcement of the event late in the budget year made it hard for many of these organizations to formalize sponsorship for  this event.   OGC and USGIF have determined that it wouldn't be right to convene an event of this size if it could not fully represent the broad community of place-based technology, service and information providers.

We continue to believe in the overall vision of this conference, and we'll be considering alternatives for potential action in the future.  In particular, we may wish to convene smaller,  focused events on specific location-based policy matters later this year.

Please forward this link to others you know who may have been considering attending WhereCon 2012. As we reformulate our approach in the coming months, we look forward to your continued support and your commitment to the place based policy vision.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us directly.
