OWS-7 Webinars

OGC Web Services Initiative, Phase 7 (OWS-7): The Webinars

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) is an international standards organization, developing and promoting standards and best practices for interoperability in geospatial data exchange and usage over the Web. This is the latest in the series of OGC testbed initiatives to drive out working examples of standards and best practices in specific domains of interest, as described in the activity threads listed below.  OWS-7 was a global, collaborative effort with 30 participating organizations sponsored by 10 national agencies and corporations. The OWS series is the largest program of its kind within OGC, and is conducted on an annual basis, each time building on results from the previous year's testbed, and exploring new directions of research and development according to the sponsors' requirements.

Two webinars will be held to present the results of this testbed in terms of interoperability of data and services in the following areas:

Introduction and Overview  (8 minutes)

Feature and Decision Fusion (FDF)  (35 minutes, including time for questions)

  • Feature and Statistical Analysis tools and interface development
  • Geosynchronization of changes made to features of interest across multiple databases
  • Initial development of the Authoritative Data Source Directory (ADSD) for querying many different types of data sources
  • Geosynchronization to keep multiple databases consistent, allowing changes in the field to be synchronized with changes from headquarters

Sensor Fusion Enablement (SFE)  (25 minutes, including time for questions)

  • Sensor tracking and notification with Web Processing Service (WPS)
  • Detecting changes within scenes captured by video camera over the same track on different days
  • Refining interfaces and best practices for bridging between CCSI (Common CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear) Sensor Interface) and OGC Sensor Observation Service (SOS)

Aviation (25 minutes, including time for questions)

  • Evaluation and advancement of AIXM (Aeronautical Information Exchange Model) and WXXM (Weather Information Exchange Model) for aviation dispatch and operations
  • Advancement of Event Notification Architecture
  • Integration of AIXM / WXXM in a System Wide Information Management (SWIM) environment
