World Ozone & Ultraviolet Radiation Data Centre provides value added Validation Services using implementing OGC standards
In 2015, the World Ozone and Ultraviolet Radiation Data Centre (WOUDC) underwent renewal in order to modernize workflows, implementation and provide added value to the Ozone/UV communities. WOUDC is one of six World Data Centres which are part of the Global Atmosphere Watch programme of the World Meteorological Organization.
WOUDC has launched an initial iteration of data validation and Quality assessment (Qa) services in support of lightweight/agile mechanisms to allow contributors to validate their data submissions before submitting to the data centre. WOUDC data processing involves numerous checks and steps as part of validation and ingest. Now, these checks and steps are made available for contributors to verify their data prior to submission using the Web Processing Service (WPS)standard. WPS enables WOUDC to reuse and make available business processes and workflows via standard interfaces. Over time, these services will contribute to the continuous improvement of data centre submissions in assisting contributors.
Specific data validation services currently include format / syntax checks and dataset specific Qa. Future iterations will include format conversion of level 0 OzoneSonde data into WMO CREX format as well as near realtime data publishing / feeds, as part of the WMO Global Telecommunication System (GTS).
